Similar to EIFS experience, DBI has extensive experience with exterior stucco systems.  Specifically, Mr. James Daniel (founder and Sr. Principal of Daniel Building Investigations, Inc.) is a nationally recognized Stucco Expert and Building Science Expert with 40 years of experience.  He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the 23 states and is a Registered Exterior Wall Consultant (REWC) through The Institute of Roofing, Waterproofing, & Building Envelope Professionals (RCI).

Mr. Daniel is an active member of ASTM C11.03 on Exterior Portland Cement Plaster (Stucco), including the Task Group C 926 on Application of Portland Cement-Based Plaster and Task Group C 1063 on Installation of Lathing and Furring to Receive Interior and Exterior Portland Cement-Based Plaster.  He is a contributing author on these key stucco standards (C 926 and C 1063).  He was in charge of USG One-Coat Stucco systems development when working for USG Corporation, and has investigated hundreds of problematic exterior stucco and adhered stone veneer cladding systems.  Mr. Daniel has represented numerous homeowners, general contractors, stucco installing contractors, sealant contractors, and window and door installing contractors when they have become a party to stucco litigation.

He has been responsible for numerous large forensic investigations relating to the performance of exterior stucco including staining of the finish coat due to iron pyrite contaminated finish sand, lime pops, cracking issues, moisture problems, cause and origin of mold, and water penetration around or through window and door systems installed within exterior stucco.
