Mr. James Daniel, founder and Sr. Principal of Daniel Building Investigations, Inc., is a nationally recognized Masonry Expert and Building Science Expert with over 40 years of experience with masonry construction having investigated many hundreds of masonry related problems involving brick, concrete masonry units (cmu), stone, cut limestone, and adhered stone veneer.  He has been responsible for numerous large forensic investigations relating to the performance of masonry walls including construction defects, deterioration issues, cracking, efflorescence, water infiltration, and the cause and origin of mold.  Mr. Daniel has represented numerous home owners, general contractors, masonry contractors, sealant contractors, and window installation contractors when they have become a party to masonry related litigation.

He is an active member of ASTM Committees C 12.03 on Specifications for Mortars,  C 15.02 on Brick and Structural Clay Tile, C 15.04 on Research and C 15.05 on Masonry Assemblies and has been a contributing author on several key masonry standards sponsored by these subcommittees.   He is also a Registered Exterior Wall  Consultant through The Institute of Roofing, Waterproofing, & Building Envelope Professionals (RCI).
