DBI has been involved in numerous investigations to determine the cause and origin of damaging pipe bursts due to freezing.  Water supply pipes and wet fire sprinkler pipes installed in exterior walls, attic spaces, or roof/ceiling assemblies will freeze if not properly freeze protected to keep the pipe temperatures at or above 40° F by code and to eliminate cold air infiltration paths through or around the freeze protection.  DBI evaluates the freeze protection design, party scopes of work, coordination, installation and post installation activities to formulate opinions of causation, contribution, and party responsibility.
